Bit off more than I can chew but still seeing it thru!

Let me first preface this with the following:
A: I am a musician/singehobbyist coder.
B: I have never used a jigsaw before.
C: I embarrassingly enough had to google how to properly read a ruler.
D: Router to me means, internet.
E: Home Depot can be scary for those who have no idea what they are doing.
F. Home Depot is even scarier when you find out you know more than the employee that is helping you.
G: MDF is heavier than you can ever imagine. Please please please bring a friend or two. I am not by any means weak. Each board is 96 lbs!
H: MDF is messy as hell!!! I had to dust my whole living room after putting plastic over everything and just routing 12 inches of the arcade to test my t-molding. (More on that later).
I: I am positive most of you out there will laugh at me thinking ,”What the hell was he thinking?” Well you know what? Fair enough.. I thought I was. And hey, I still built my dream arcade. Yes I took the long way but whatever....
So, let us begin on the journey.....
If you are here to just scan thru and find info on how to build your arcade quickly, please email me at [email protected] and ask me there. I will do my best to reply quickly. (Not very busy at the moment). Otherwise, hang on...it’s goin to be a VERY bumpy ride. At least it was for my jigsaw and router.
PART ONE: THE DREAM
I was born July 16 1974. I will never forget my first arcade. The sounds of all the machines going off at once. My Dad giving me a five dollar bill out of his brown corduroy jacket to get quarters was like I hit the jackpot. All 20 quarters barely fitting into my little hands, I felt rich!! This was also about the time the TV show Silver Spoons came out. I remember Ricky Schroeder having a few upright cabinets in his house. At that age I thought, ehh I’ll never have that. I grew up in the Southside of Chicago. Bridgeport. The land of Mayor Daley, Catholics and hot dogs. Arcade cabinets were for the wealthy and arcades, not for me. From then on, my Dad would take me to every arcade we could find, until they stopped. (I am 46 and we still play PlayStation 3 games together now that arcades are closed down). I have even learned how to code, 3D build in Blender and create my own VR arcades. But it’s not the same. So one day I spilled the beans to my wife who had no idea of my inner wanting.
PART TWO: HERE WE GO! It was around my 46th birthday when all of my family came together to help me purchase the gear to create my dream! My father in law helped me measure out the pieces but made me saw them with the jigsaw I borrowed. My real Dad is still in Chicago. I had the Home Depot guy cut the 8 x 4’ MDF into 5.5’ x 4’ MDF. Guess what? They still didn’t fit in the suv. So we roped them to the roof and rolled our windows down driving slow hoping they wouldn’t t fall off. Just like The Beverly Hillbillies!
We cut them outside at his home in the yard because I heard about how much dust it created and would be either evicted or divorced if I did that here.
Once we were done cutting:....
I piled all of the heavy pieces into my tiny Prius and lugged them up into our apartment. Before that, I must tell you where I got my plans.
Geekpub.com was who I settled on as I had been googling like crazy trying to find the easiest and best plans etc.. Mike on Geekpub is fantastic. However, if you are a noob like myself, message me. I was confused over a few things and ended up returning a lot of items back to Amazon that I never needed. No worries. Mike at GeekPub is a total pro with a pro workshop. He even mines his own Bitcoin!!!! He is my new hero. Anyways, he leaves a few things out that most of you would probably already know. (Which is why I’m sure he didn’t mention it). Like, never use water based paint for MDF. Always prime MDF. You don’t need a piano hinge for a full upright. Etc....
Mike made his arcade with cream of the crop gear. I had to improvise with only a jigsaw, router, drill and sandpaper. I bought brad nails but never used them. mike has a fancy air compressor nail gun he uses. I do not possess that. But, I DID use wood glue and pax MDF screws that I found at Home Depot and bought only because they said MDF! They contain their own bit to use which is a star shaped but.
It’s crazy how strong wood glue is. I glued a brace in the wrong spot and had to chisel it off 2 hours later!! Be careful and triple check. Take it from me!!!
For your control panel Mike recommends Forstner bits for your control panel and I agree. Do yourself a favor and get these.
When it comes to routing out for the T Molding, I did it with a portable hand router. I DID purchase my bit on Amazon.
PART THREE: LEARN THY TOOLS
Ok so if you are going to borrow a router, find out the size of the shank before you order your bit for the t-molding slot. I originally ordered the 1/2 “ shank only to find out it needed the 1/4”. Also, take note or the size you need when ordering your t-molding!
Always rout from left to right. And again, if you are using MDF, mask your home with plenty of plastic. Make it look like in ET when they come to take home away. You’ll be glad you did!!!
If you are screwing into MDF, go slow and try to limit the times you have to re screw or else the wood fibers will split on you and your screw will just keep turning.
PART FOUR: PAINT
I haven’t started this yet but have learned a lot from researching other’s builds.
I learned to NEVER use water based anything on MDF as it will ruin it by swell.
I will add more info once I purchase my items from you know where.
I also made many mistakes by trying to saw a straight line with a jigsaw. No...I didn’t know about a straight edge guide.. Anyways, I just ordered a hand plane and I hope this will fix it. Will update soon!
Final -ish thoughts:
I’m positive I left out a bunch. I recommend you go to geekpub.com and buy the guild pass. I have zero affiliation with Mike. But am a big supporter as he does have quite a lot of knowledge. If you would like to just learn thru me, I can get you set and rolling with the knowledge that I have. [email protected]

Respect: Deathstroke (DC Rebirth)

Deathstroke The Terminator aka Slade Wilson is a DC Comics comic book character that has been around since 1980.
This respect thread which may be updated in the future, will be about the "DC Rebirth" version of Deathstroke, which has been the main version/Earth 0 version of the character since he was more or less rebooted back in 2016.
The main writer of this Deathstroke is Christopher Priest which is why this Deathstroke may be known as "Prieststroke". Christopher Priest is virtually the Word of God when it comes to this Deathstroke, and he has a site specifically dedicated to this Deathstroke: http://lamerciepark.com/comics/deathstroke/
Most quotations will be from that site, and I recommend reading it for the best intro into the series and an understanding of this Deathstroke.
Also for an idea of how this Deathstroke is meant to look, This is Deathstroke's Rebirth Design version 1.1.
Now, Who is DC Rebirth's Deathstroke?:
He is not a mercenary, profesional soldier, military subcontractor or any other clever euphemism used to round the edges off of his description. Deathstroke kills people for money. Lots of money. He spends a great deal of that money on a virtual army of lawyers who expertly prevent police and/or covert entities from ever positively proving Lt. Colonel Slade Wilson (Ret.) and Deathstroke are, in fact, one and the same.
Physically;
Deathstroke is approximately 55 years of age but appears to be 20 years younger due to the tissue regeneration caused by his rapid healing power. He is 6'4", taller than Superman or Batman, (and very intimidating). Slade is an extremely cool customer, much like the first act or so of the Michael Mann-Tom Cruise film Collateral. He occasionally wears sunglasses so the eye patch (a stick-on white patch) isn’t necessarily seen. It is very difficult to get Deathstroke to lose his temper.
Mentally;
Deathstroke is an emotional cripple along the lines of Hugh Laurie's House M.D., a guy who desperately loves and desires to be close to his children, but is too emotionally damaged to ever achieve that. He was a terrible father and is now haunted by a lot of poor choices made with his wife Adeline and his boys, especially.
So
The only people he actually talks to are his longtime partner Major William Randolph Wintergreen, British SAS (Ret.), his kids and his ex-wife. Wintergreen, approximately 65, is a reluctant partner who has ethical conflicts about DS's line of work. Other than that, Deathstroke is (in my version) much more laconic than as he's traditionally been portrayed. He trusts no one, thinks most everyone is an idiot, speaks only when absolutely necessary.
Also
Deathstroke works for himself, is suspicious of all governments (especially ours). You hire him by posting an offer on the Dark Web along with a six-figure deposit in untraceable Bitcoin.
Deathstroke's basic powers are:
Enhanced Strength: Roughly that of Captain America. YMMV.
Enhanced Reflexes: Roughly that of Captain America. YMMV.
Note* Christopher Priest has written Captain America before (The Captain America and Falcon series if i recall), so what his Captain America did may be usable for his Deathstroke. Also YMMV is "Your Milleage May Vary", which means basically it may be different in your view.
Deathstroke also has
Enhanced Intellect: Post-Rebirth, we're redefining this a little. We no longer say Deathstroke uses "90% of his brain capacity." If Deathstroke used 90% of his brain capacity, he'd be Charles Xavier. Now we just say he's really, really smart. Deathstroke is probably the smartest guy in the DC Universe. He is easily the equal of Batman in terms of strategic planning. Deathstroke's intellect is deadlier than his sword. He typically out-thinks and out-strategizes everybody in the book. He is a keen observer and expert detective. He usually has several balls in the air at one time.
And
Rapid Healing: Post-Rebirth, we're redefining this a little. Deathstroke's rapid healing clots blood in seconds and seals wounds in minutes. The time it takes for full healing depends upon the wound: a bee sting, maybe a couple seconds. A gunshot wound: a few hours. It depends on the complexity of the knitting process, how much tissue needs to be regenerated and other factors. It is not an instant process. Deathstroke's rapid healing cannot regenerate organs. It can heal organs, but, for example, it won't regenerate a liver if a bad guy rips his out. Therefore, his rapid healing power did not simply create a new eye (or, in the case of Marvel's over-the-top Deathstroke parody Deadpool, grow a new hand). Deathstroke experiences pain like anyone else. Just because he has rapid healing doesn't mean he'd just sit around and let people gut him with swords. This is why he wears a protective uniform.. Deathstroke experiences trauma like anyone else and is capable of going into traumatic shock from injury. If he does not allow his rapid healing process to properly close a wound, Deathstroke can bleed out and die just like anyone else.
This all as Dr. Villain has explained comes from a dormant Metagene that after being activated in an experiment "literally evolved his brain." Meaning Deathstroke is actually a Dormant Meta-Human. His evolved brain means Deathstroke can "Access his brain functions on a cellular scale--Enabling Rapid Healing, Enhanced Strength and Reflexes.", and just in case you are not aware; Deathstroke lost his right eye due to his (Now Ex) Wife shooting him in the back of the head. Anyway Deathstroke is genetically enhanced with Rapid Healing, Enhanced Strength, Reflexes and intellect, and being Half blind is said to have only made him more dangerous.
By the way: Yes. Deathstroke is stronger and faster than Batman, as he has directly told Batman.
Anyway, Deathstroke has been known as a decorated war hero, devoted husband, loving father, relentless warrior, prisoner of war, and the world's deadliest assassin. He's also been called "the most ruthlessly efficient killer alive", "the best informed and most prepared assassin on the planet", "one of the most dangerous men on the planet", "the terrifying master assassin", the absolute best asssassin, and "the deadliest man alive".
And Deathstroke's major background info has been summarized here. It's also been summarized again by The Riddler and again by Black Mask.

Deathstroke's Gear:

Deathstroke's standard gear:
  • His Promethium Broadsword aka The Deathstroke
  • His Titanium Staff
  • His Ikon Suit Prototype
  • His Glock 19
  • His combat belt
and
  • His knife
Also it has recently been explained that Deathstroke's mask is lined with Encephalitic filters. This prevents the mind control and even the new amped up telepathy of Jericho.
Make sure to check out this link for more information on Deathstroke's gear: https://www.reddit.com/useTheTrueDeathSkeleton/comments/eeurec/respect_deathstrokes_dc_rebirth_gea?utm_medium=android_app&utm_source=share

400 Watt Solar System for Shed

400 Watt Solar System for Shed
Literally my first Reddit post so please bear with me :)

I wanted to build an of grid solar system for me shed. I've built other systems before but this is the first time building one this big on my own. I'm not a professional electrician so please use this information at your own risk. Generally I try to over-engineer my electrical designs to make up for my incompetence. Some of the design choices may seem odd but have reasoning behind it that may not be apparent at first. A lot of the materials I used were already on hand and were either free or cheap. If you think I should have done things differently, I'd be happy hear from you but please be nice!

TLDR, Basic Specs...
(4) 100 Watt Renogy Monocrystalline Solar Panels
(6) 225AH 6V Lead Acid Golf Cart Batteries (series and parallel for 675AH 12V)
(20 ft) 2 AWG Copper Cables
(1) 1800 Watt DC/AC Inverter
(1) 60A MPPT Solar Charge Controller

I've built a mostly complete parts list here with Google Sheets. https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1ntLIxUjBPDQZN__vHUV0RzNPnzy4xBO7PRnIbkUv170/edit?usp=sharing

This is the circuit design I came up with, this should be simple enough to follow along with basic circuit design understanding. Again, I'm not a professional electrician.
Nifty circuit design
For the rest of this project overview, I figured it would be most logical to work from the top down.
I installed these brackets from Renogy. This was one of the most time consuming steps. I probably should have increased the pitch on these for optimal sunshine.
Positioning the (4) 100 watt solar panels.
I decided to run wires for each solar panel rather than wiring them in series. To save money, I bought the cheapest glands I could find, these did not come with screws or sealant. I ran 10 AWG wire through the glands and sealed the roof entry with black roofing caulk. Then applied the roofing caulk to the plastic body and screwed it down. I installed standard MC4 solar panel connectors, these are crimped and soldered.

I decided to have the glands positioned underneath the panels to provide optimal protection from the elements and a cleaner look. Having another set of MC4 connectors here also makes it easy to change panels or reconfigure my setup later on.
https://preview.redd.it/yfsnsqdv8jk41.jpg?width=4032&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=0d38b842ca94495d81292756954bee6a05c50a3f
The wires from the roof drop in like this. I used simple cable tacks to secure them. I split the positive and negative wires to run along separate boards.
Working off of my initial circuit design, I worked up the placement of the components on the main power panel. Solar would come in on the top and the batteries would be connected to the bottom.
These busbars were some of the most expensive components but worked very nicely for my application.
I ran ground wires along the backside to ground the components and mounting bolts. These connect to the MPPT controller, inverter, and later on a grounding rod.
The main power panel is installed on the wall. The positive solar power leads run to a 35 Amp breaker before continuing to the 60 Amp MPPT charge controller.
MPPT up close.
At the base of this system are six 6 Volt lead acid batteries. I wired the batteries in series creating three 12 Volt battery banks and then wired them in parallel on the main power panel busbars.
I used 2 AWG copper wire and crimped on lugs for for the batteries and inverter leads.
System overview...
I can now easily power my iMac, power my soldering iron, charge my drill batteries, charge my lawn mower battery, and power my LED lighting.
Pretty!
Bonus!
If you ever wanted to know if I can mine bitcoins on this rig, the answer is not really. This lasted for about 12 minutes before low voltage shutoff on the inverter. The 2 AWG leads going to the inverter got warm!

[GUIDE] INTRO TO REPLICA WATCHES

So you’ve found your way to reptime. Congrats! It’s a great place to hopefully help you find what you’re looking for. There’s a lot of information and it all depends on how far down the rabbit hole you wanna go, but you can get anything from the crappy DHGate/AliExpress $30 fakes, all the way to a top tier replica for $300-500. You can even go further than how it came to you from China by “frankening” the piece – adding genuine and other modded components to help the watch achieve a look ‘even closer to gen’.
There are a few terms to understand in order to begin here. I don’t endorse them, sometimes I use them, but they are used frequently:
- Rep: Replica
- Gen: Genuine (referring to a genuine watch)
- QC: quality check – in reference to photos of watches
- W2C/WTC: Where to cop… aka where did you get that? Or Link?
- TD: Trusted Dealer (I’ll get more into that later)
- ZF, Noob, V6F, BP, MK, ARF, JF, etc: some of the top factories (I’ll also get more into that later)
- 2xAR xtal: a sapphire crystal coated with 2 layers of anti-reflective coating
- GL and RL - Green and Red light, referring to QC pictures being OK to accept or not.
Now for the ‘tiers’ of reps:
Bottom Tier
If you want cheap stuff, no or bad QC, but want to pay $150 or less, go to
DHGate
AliExpress
Taobao
I won’t tell you what to search or how to find it there. I don’t use it, the watches there barely resemble the watches they are trying to represent. It’s just not worth it unless you want to try it on a shoestring budget.
Top TieTrusted Dealer
Trusted dealers have earned their way to that status – trusted – because they have a large customer base and are willing to go through investigations through the forums that have a tough and active moderation team (RWI, RWG, etc) if a sale goes awry. I recommend if you are going to utilize a trusted dealer (which is the ONLY way as far as I’m concerned), make sure you have an active account on the forums and post there so that the moderation team can back your order. If you aren’t on the forum, and your order goes bad, no one is obligated to help you. Trusted dealers get not a ton of dough from your sale, but they almost all offer a customs guarantee - you will receive a replacement watch for free if customs seizes it. Be nice and remember that they are doing work for you and should be compensated for that time. The trusted dealer experience works differently for each one, but for the most part, the flow is as follows:
  1. Order (either through their website or through email). They are busy. Keep your emails short and to the point.
  2. Payment – some accept credit cards*, others primarily do Bitcoin, Western Union and Moneygram. Some accept some of the more convenient services like paypal, but you typically have to be an upstanding member of the community for over a year.
  3. Wait for QC. This can take 2-7 days depending on availability. Typical turnaround time is 2-3 days.
  4. Once QC is received, these are pictures of the actual watch you will get in the mail. Make sure you check it for major defects. Don’t get too picky, remember that these are $3-400 replicas of $2k-60k watches, made by people who probably make a bit more than minimum wage in some cases. If a TD rejects a watch too many times, the factory or dealer they buy from will begin to refuse sending new watches and just offer a refund. I won’t get into how to approve QC, because you should be doing research on the model you want and what you want to look out for.
  5. Once you approve QC, it will take 1-2 days for the TD to send it off to their courier. You can also ship via triangle shipping, which is a higher price, but recommended for European countries.
  6. While in transit, the package has to make it through customs in China and customs in your country of origin. If it gets seized in your country, you will get a letter. Don’t respond to the letter ever, just send that to your TD and they will order a new one for you as part of the guarantee. If it doesn’t get seized, it typically takes 5-7 days from TD to your front door
  7. Enjoy the watch. Get a $20 watch service kit from Amazon or whatever and resize the bracelet.
  8. DON’T TAKE IT TO A JEWELER AND PRETEND IT’S THE REAL THING. They will lie to your face and make you think they think it's real because its good customer service to make people feel good about themselves. They are trained to do that. Just some practical advice - take it or leave it - don't tell your friends and loved ones that these are the real thing. It's better to be honest. If you want to know the full reason, PM me, I'm happy to share why honesty is important.
  9. What if your watch is broken upon arrival? You MUST make a log in on the forums where the dealer is a trusted dealer, and post enough there in order to log a ticket to file a dispute. They will not help you if you create an account after your issue arises with a TD. It is their rules.
* Some have reported credit card numbers being stolen after using at TD websites. While the TDs are trusted, sometimes the agencies/companies they use to process credit card transactions aren’t trusted. They try their hardest, but there have been slip ups in the past. I’ve used my CC a couple times and haven’t had fraud.

Trusted dealer websites (these are the TDs from the forums - RepTime has no official Trusted Dealers!)
These change frequently due to the original companies wanting them taken down for understandable reasons. The websites are usually down for a night then back on a different domain the next day – they change probably 2-3 times per year. If you want an updated list (in case these domains get seized and I haven’t updated the post), go to the forums and see if they put a new one up. There are more than these TDs on the forums, too, this is not an exhaustive list. Also please note, reptime has no official Trusted Dealers, this is just a list I made to help others know some of the major ones out there that are vetted by the bigger forums. If you need help with any of the trusted dealers, you MUST be a member of the forum where they are listed as a TD in order to receive support.

Factories
There are certain popular factories to choose from and not all ‘good’ factories are the popular ones. Some of the smaller factories specialize in one or two watches but they are GOOD. The factories in total release probably 2-10 new models every week (granted lots are shitty). The way factories work, from what I’ve read, is that someone who wants to make a watch will order dials from a dial plant, cases from a manufacturer who specializes in case making, etc, and then receive ‘proofs’. Once they approve of the proofs, they will then order batches of 100-500 and manually assemble the pieces (dial, case, hands, date disc, movements, straps, buckles, etc). This is not easy stuff and usually they know what they are doing. When a watch is out of stock, it can be out of stock forever.
Major Factories (detail received from many postings around the internet, sometimes shamelessly copy/pasted):
Who makes the best Rolex sub? My opinion only, there are many different opinions out there. As of March 9, 2020.

  2. Noob v10
  3. ARF v3 3135

Posting QC Photos

QC pics are the photos (and sometimes video) you get from your Trusted Dealer for the specific watch that you've ordered and will be shipped to you. While it is reasonable to ask for a new watch if there are significant defects in craftsmanship, there are also other reasons NOT to ask for a new watch that are a bit too 'picky' (i.e. microsopic misalignment of certain details that are OK in gen even). Something important to understand in this type of black market product with not a lot of QC oversight is that you cannot be too picky, and it can be tough for TDs to exchange products, meaning the loss is on their end if you do too many exchanges - just not a good experience for both the dealer and the customer.

  1. Post all albums provided by TD up front
  2. Write the following:
    1. Dealer name - Puretime, Jtime, Mirotime, etc
    2. Factory name - BP Factory, J Factory, ZZF, ZF, etc
    3. Model name - Submariner 116610LN v2
  3. Include the following as part of your evaluation prior to posting (if, for instance your watch does not have a bezel, put N/A):
    1. Index alignment - are the hour markers aligned? Call out specific ones if they bother you - like '6 o clock looks crooked'. This also includes logo alignment as well
    2. Date Wheel alignment - do the dates sit to one side or the other? Perfectly centered? Tip: some dates sit perfectly, and some don't on the same date disc sometimes.
    3. Bezel - is the pip centered? Any of the engravings look improperly filled?
    4. Solid End Links (SEL) - is there a gap between the bracelet's first link and the case lugs? How big is the gap?
    5. Hand alignment - do the hands look reasonably aligned? Chrono hands point to 12?
    6. Dial Printing - any defects? Crooked?
    7. Timegrapher numbers - Acceptable Rate: +/- 1 – 20 s/d; Acceptable Amplitude: 250 - 310; Acceptable Beat Error: 0.0 ms – 1.0 ms
    8. Anything else you see - big scratches on the case, movement jewels missing, etc.
Here is a copy/paste format that will need to be used from here on out:

  1. Dealer name:
  2. Factory name:
  3. Model name (& version number):
  4. Album Links:
  5. Index alignment:
  6. Dial Printing:
  7. Date Wheel alignment/printing:
  8. Hand Alignment:
  9. Bezel:
  10. Solid End Links (SELs):
  11. Timegrapher numbers:
  12. Anything else you notice:
Optional index alignment tool courtesy of u/Bandyciak https://qc-checker.herokuapp.com/
Again, this will be REQUIRED for all QC posts, and will be removed if they don't follow the guidelines.

Gold plating, wrap, and diamonds
Gold plating is getting better, but it seems to be a mixture of copper and some other materials that give the finish and coloring of gold. There is a tiny bit of gold in there though. If you get a scratch, don’t buff it out, just live with it. A scuff will show the stainless steel behind it if you get a significant enough ding. However, I’ve owned 4-5 rose gold plated watches and haven’t had issues with a single one and I don’t treat my watches too nicely.
Gold wrapping is more expensive but also much more thick. It will take a serious ding and still show gold. It has more gold % in it. You can buff it lightly with no issue.
Diamonds in a haute horology piece is typically done with a fine gemstone and perfectly placed using a gemsetting technique that isn’t done in the same manner as a replica would be done. If you need or want the look, then do it. Just know the stones are probably CZ, and will fall out easily, and will be inconsistently placed – which gives a poor brilliance when looking at it.

// , Linux Laptop: t480s vs X1 Carbon

// , Hi, I have been lugging around a 6lb Dell XPS 15 from 2012, and I'm looking for something lighter and better.

But I use Linux. That means there's always a little risk in trying to pick a device.

My three options are, in order of my current leanings:

t480s (https://www.digitaltrends.com/computing/lenovo-thinkpad-t480s-underrated/) 2.9 lb
Amazon link: https://www.amazon.com/Lenovo-ThinkPad-T480S-Business-Laptop/dp/B07CNCJNH2

X1 Carbon (https://bestblackfriday.com/deal/150017) 2 lb

Lenovo Link: https://www.lenovo.com/us/en/laptops/thinkpad/thinkpad-x/ThinkPad-X1-Carbon-6th-Gen/p/22TP2TXX16G
Dell XPS 13 (amazon link: https://smile.amazon.com/dp/B01NCOZ254) 2.7 lb

In my line of work, I frequently have multiple VMs and containers open with Vagrant.
That means more RAM and more Linux.
If it wasn't for the RAM and the Linux, I would go with the X1 in a heartbeat.

t480s Linux Compatibility:
It seems to require some tweaking.

Getting rid of ASICC Miners

I acquired 6 Butterfly labs ASICC Miners from a friend of a friend like 4 years ago and I used them for a bit in my college dorm (I didn’t have to pay electric bill so why not) but now they are kind of just a hassle to keep lugging from house to house and internship to internship so I wanted to try to get rid of them but I have no idea the best place to sell them or even an idea of their worth? I know I missed the giant bitcoin mining craze last year but they are beefy miners. I’ve got 4x Butterfly Labs SGL300G 2x Butterfly Labs Monarch
Any ideas as to current worth or even if they can be repurposed? Their ASICC so I’m assuming they can’t be but never know.

By Arthur G. Staples ON "THE INFLUENZY" DOC'S been here agen terday! Seem's ez ef he come ter say "How yer gettin' on terday?" lookin' at me where I lay. I ain't talkin' over much; ain't no need ter air my lore. Eyes a burning' where they be; ears a bustin' with a roar; mouth thet's like a shingle-mill; dry's the handle of a pump; back that's broke square in two bout four inches 'bove the rump! So I ain't so long on talk. Got no answer fer the doc! Doc don't seem ter mind me none; sets around a little bit; pulls a little dictaphone; lays it on my kroop- er-bone; makes me breathe and holler "A-a-ah"; breathe an' intake; breathe an' groan through the little dictaphone. Sez he after quite a spell. "Them Bolsheveeks is raisin' hell! D'ye think ol' Wilson's doin' well?" Take my tempertoor agen; thumps me on the abdo- men. "Think it's goin' ter snow agen?" But I don't want no casual chat. I don't call no doc, fer that. Got no call for Bolsheveeks, fer at least a couple er weeks! Don't keer ef it snows an' snows ef I could only blow my nose! I want facks! Right off'n the bat! I don't want no social chat! Ef I'm wusn't what I wus, what's the reason; what's the cause? What's the status of he case; tell te facks right to my face; lemme know the wust and best; is my innards all congessed; are there bones loose in my pate; is my backbone dislocate; ef I ain't got no tempertoor an' no disease fer sure, what in time's ther howdydoo ef 'taint the pip and 'tain't the flu? Doc he sets around a bit. "Man!" says he, "you're lookin' fit! Have you fightin' Dempsey yit." Then I looks Doc in the eye: "Tie the bull outside," says I. "Doc, I bleeve I'm goin' ter die. I'm dead now above my chin! Eyes and nose and ears and all! Ain't breathed reglar fer a week! Jints all movin' with a squeak. Every time I move my jaw, feel's ez though I'd broke the law. Doc," says I, "it's up ter you! Ef t'aint the pip and 'tain't the flu how yer goin' ter pull me through?" Doc he sets an' thinks erwhile; then he answers with a smile, "Ain't you the chap wrote a talk, couldn't eat and couldn't walk, waited fer the birds to sing, an' the comin' of the spring; wanted to loaf by a larfin stream, set an' fish an' fish an' dream, nuthin' but bees an' bugs an' things, thet live right where the wild stream sings. Maybe that ain't jest carreck, but sumthin' at least to that effeck." An' the doc he opens a bag he lugs. "What you need," sez he, "is a dose of bugs." An' sure enough I'm gettin' well; ain't felt so peart for quite a spell. Wuz over a billion bugs, they say, in the shot doc gimme the other day. Reely feel I'm comin' to; 'tain't the pip an' 'tain't the flu; but jest er case when all I need is sumthin' off'n the flowery mead, an' when you can't inject the Spring nor a dose of blue- bird on the wing, nor brooks that run, ner vi'lets blue ter cure the pip er cure the flu, why! the next best thing the doctor lugs is a shot of erbout a billion bugs. An' as they sort o' crawl eround, I can somehow feel I'm on the ground, with all the rest that my fancy hugs, the birds an' bees an' the billion bugs.

IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT: Big changes coming, moving to website orders only

We'd appreciate it if people could get the word out to FashionReps and Repsneakers.

Hey all. Seas here to announce that some big changes are on the way.

It’s been a crazy and exhausting couple of months while we’ve tested out some new ideas. Some have been fruitful, while others have been a bust. We branched out into WeChat and the /Muks_Store subreddit, and tried setting up a DHGate store and accepting Bitcoin. But in doing all of this, we really over-extended ourselves. Managing all these platforms and payment channels has turned into a tremendous undertaking, eating up valuable hours that could be spent on searching out new stock or developing the business. So we’re going to scrap a lot of stuff, and start consolidating all of our business and customer service in one place: the www.muks-store.com website.

Most of you have noticed that our yupoo, website, and subreddit pricelist are all depressingly out of date, so in the next couple of days, we’ll work on making the website our main catalog, storefront, and chat platform. Here’s how this will affect you guys, as customers:
  1. Website prices will be adjusted to match our Bitcoin/Western Union/Moneygram/Taobao/DHGate prices.
  2. No more new Skype or WeChat adds, at least for the next two days.
  3. Halting WeChat adds indefinitely, and slowly moving old customers to our website ordeticketing system.
  4. If the above step is successful, possibly stopping all Skype, WeChat, and Whatsapp activity and moving all communications to the website ordeticketing system.
  5. Eventually, no more Bitcoin/Western Union/Moneygram/Taobao/DHGate payment, except for old customers still on the old chat platforms.
No doubt this will negatively affect some of you guys, especially those who are unable to pay through the payment processor on our website. We’ll be continually looking for solutions to this and other issues. But, this is a necessary sacrifice. We’re finding it impossible to sustain our current business model.

This is because we spend way too much time chatting with customers, and not enough time developing the business. We’ve hit a bottleneck in terms of how many orders we can take a day, and it’s because we have to conduct the entire order process via chat. If we can reduce this workload by automating more parts of the process, we’ll be able to offer better service, serve more customers, and bring new offerings to the table. This may even free up enough time for us to start contributing interesting content to the reps community. But in our current state, the work is slowly the team’s will to continue. Something big needs to change.

Many of you know Lin. Lin is our Skype guy, the guy I first encountered when approaching Muks to buy a pair of reps. When I first met Lin online, he was patient, cheerful, and enthusiastic. He was real and approachable, which was dramatically different from the other rep sellers. Him and Song (the WhatsApp guy, and original Muks) ran their business with rare kind of integrity and commitment to service. It felt pretty special.

Several months later, Lin no longer resembles that cheerful dude I first met on Skype. He is haggard. He is anxious. There’s no hint of his former enthusiasm.

Below is a short story about Lin.

A Day in the Life of Lin:

Lin gets home. It's 7:30AM. He's been up all night fielding questions on Skype. He sleeps until noon, and upon waking, immediately drives his electric scooter to the apartment serving as our office. He has not had time to shower, and has not for the last 4 days. He sits down at his desk and wakes his computer from sleep. As soon as he logs in, the familiar sound of Skype’s notifications begins chirping through the speakers.

Chirp. Chirp. 246 unread messages.

Chirp. Chirp. Chirp. 249 unread messages.

He begins working through them from the bottom up. He used to engage with customers warmly. But now, he fears they will take it as an invitation to be chatty. There's just too many people to talk to, and not enough time. So he keeps his responses laconic: Sure. No. TTS. Out of stock.

The chatting is manageable, for a while. He’s down to 185. Outside, it begins to rain.

Then he sees the next name and his heart drops. The customer has been chatting with him for two months, without placing an order. They’ve repeatedly backed out of their order at the last second, asking for new quotes with new combinations of shoes and different couriers.

Can you quote me for ABC? Can you give me a discount please? How about for XYZ? Can I get your WU info? Then he disappears. Two days later: How about Taobao? Can you do it cheaper please? But for these other shoes. Lin sends a new quote and link, and again, nothing. Lin chats with the customer for 15 minutes, and gives him another quote. Ok I’ll think about it, thanks!

All the while, Skype is chirping in the background. Chirp. Chirp. Chirp. 203 unread messages.

Lin continues in this fashion until 6, when we prepare to ship the day’s greenlit orders. He begins carefully inspecting each pair, even though customers have already approved them. I see him turning a shoe around in his hands, a UB 2.0 Triple White, size 9, left foot. He stares at it intently, dark circles already forming around his eyes.

“They got some silver ink on the panel,” he says. I look, and there’s indeed a speck of silver on the white plastic, next to the lettering. It’s about a millimeter in diameter.

“How do they expect us to sell these,” he mutters, while shaking his head.

He walks over to a desk and uncaps a bottle of methylbenzene, also known as toluene, a solvent. After dipping a Q-tip in the transparent liquid, he starts swabbing the silver speck. It dissolves, and he wipes away the residue.

“Best to wash your hands after using this,” he tells me.

After making sure there’s no residue left, grabs a pair of scissors and clips some loose threads coming out of the cage stitching. Finally satisfied, he gently lowers the pair of UB’s into a plastic bag, before returning them to their box. “It’s so the lettering doesn’t rub off, during shipment.”

By 7PM, we’re ready to haul the shoes to the shipping agent. Lin lugs a giant cardboard box full of shoes down to the basement, and sets it onto the back of his scooter. With any luck the rain has stopped, for the moment.

At 9PM, Lin’s back at the office. “There was an issue at the shipping agent’s. They’re having trouble using Aramex to ship to India, and they’re saying we need some stamps and documents we can’t provide. The buyer’s getting impatient. We’ll have to figure something out.” But it’ll have to wait till tomorrow; today’s shipping hours have ended. Lin glances over to the Skype window on his computer screen: 140 unread messages.

After some more chatting, it’s 11PM. Time to pick up the day’s orders from supply points scattered around the city. The rain has started up again. Lin throws on a rain poncho and heads back to the basement, where his scooter is charging. The battery barely holds much charge anymore, and the steering’s been acting up. But there’s no time to shop around for a new one. Maybe next week. If we’re less busy.

At 2AM, Lin comes through the door lugging a cardboard box stuffed full of sneakers. His poncho is dripping all over the floor. “We need to stop picking up from PK,” he says, after dropping the box on the ground. “The size 45 Breds we picked up, were a size 45 box with 44s inside. And they keep mixing in stock from other suppliers.”

Nobody is surprised. It’s not the first time this happened with PK.

“Somebody posted a review of our PK Coppers on Reddit the other day, and other users told him it wasn’t PK. How do we even explain this to them?” Nobody has an answer. We could stop selling PK, but we’d lose a lot of customers. The problem, like most others, will have to wait.

After sorting through the stock we’ve picked up, it’s 3AM. Lin goes back to his computer. He checks the tea tin he uses as an ashtray. It’s full of soggy cigarette butts. He empties it into the trash can next to his desk, which is itself almost overflowing with cigarette butts. Pulling out a fresh pack, he mentally prepares himself. The next few hours will be more QC, more orders, more answering questions.

It’s 7AM. The sun is up. Construction can be heard in the distance as the city begins to awaken. Lin squints at his Skype window: the unread messages tab reads 0.

With a big sigh, he pushes his chair back from his desk, and stands up. He stretches his arms out over his head, body sore from sitting scrunched over for the last 4 hours. He grabs the keys to his scooter off his desk, and lumbers slowly to the door. Another day, over.

On his way out, a familiar sound starts to emanate from behind him: Chirp. Chirp. Chirp.

Foreword
It's clear that cryptocurrencies are gradually making inroads into the global economy, moving closer to mass adoption. Cryptocurrencies offer a number of advantages - decentralization and trust, lower commissions and disintermediation - that make it easier for users to carry out their daily transactions. Anybody can transfer value around the globe, winning from fast processing time.
In comparison, sending value across borders via legacy financial systems requires lengthy waiting periods and fees, while also making users stuck into highly complex processes. For instance, if a person from Japan wants to send some money to England, the fees can range anywhere from 5% up to 10%, depending on the system being used. In addition, there will be some currency conversion fees. It seems that centralized players, currently enjoying lack of competition, set up fees and commissions just as they wish.
And it's merchants that carry out cross-border transactions that find working with legacy finance institutions most troublesome. They keep losing hefty chunks from their potential profits, just paying out fees to payment processors. This makes businesses hike up their prices, passing these expenses to ordinary consumers. Crypto offers a paradigm shift change, bringing to the table lightning speeds and lower fees. Although cryptocurrencies have been winning more and more attention from merchants worldwide, there's still a number of roadblocks to wider adoption, among which are price volatility, scalability limitations and others.
Volatility is admittedly the biggest hurdle that prevents businesses from using cryptocurrencies more. Bitcoin can experience huge fluctuations in just a matter of hours or even minutes. In addition, major coins like Bitcoin and Ethereum present scalability issues, which results in high processing time. A merchant, who has to handle hundreds of payments on a daily basis, would not be able to conduct their business efficiently if transactions get stuck for days on end. On top of that, it's extremely hard for adopters to convert cryptocurrencies into fiat via the banks and other financial agents they usually work with.
Cryptocurrencies seek to offer solutions to all of these issues.
What is stablecoin?
A stablecoin is a cryptocurrency, whose architecture enables its price to always equal the price of another asset. Most of the stablecoins are pegged to USD. The biggest names in cryptocurrencies are Tether, Gemini Dollar, USDQ, TUSD and others.
How do stablecoins manage to be so stable?
As opposed to other coins that float freely, stable cryptocurrencies require that each unit is backed with a unit of the fiat currency. For instance, Tether (USDT) pegs 1 USDT to 1 USD on the one-to-one basis. In this way, stablecoins are somewhere between cryptocurrencies and regular fiats. Tether is based on its own blockchain that is built on top of Bitcoin, Litecoin and Ethereum systems.
Although Tether is the biggest stablecoin, there's a number of concerns as to its operations. The biggest one is the continuing controversy as to the fiat reserves, which the issuer is supposed to store on the one-to-one ratio to the number of issued Tether units. The company has been saying that the audit will be done in the near future, but just several weeks ago it started to claim that it's not only the cash, but also loans to other companies that can be recorded as fiat reserves. These statements resulted in growing distrust among crypto enthusiasts.
Another project is TrueUSD (TUSD). It also pegs to USD. The difference with Tether is the openness to audits and transparency. The company is open to third-party audits, it publishes the duly verified reports on the fiat reserves it holds. In addition, users enjoy legal protections.
USDC is another stablecoin that was created by the famous cryptocurrency exchange Circle. Just as TUSD, if offers regulatory compliance and transparency. The big problem about all these systems is the fact that they enable authorities to seize users’ funds, which completely negates the very idea of decentralization and anti-censorship, on which crypto is built.
USDQ is different from other stablecoins as it's not backed by the fiat currency, but by Bitcoin and other top-10 cryptocurrencies in the future. This enables the ecosystem to avoid dealing with legacy financial systems. Through the overcollateralization process, USDQ turns highly volatile cryptocurrencies into the USD-pegged USDQ that is perfect for storing value and processing transactions in the external economy without any risk of price changes. The coin is being developed by PLATINUM ENGINEERING with the small community slowly growing around the project.
Why do we need stablecoins?
Stablecoins have advanced as a new iteration on cryptocurrencies, enabling to address such issues as high volatility and interactions with legacy financial systems.
Coins like USDQ make sure that various mechanisms are used in order to stabilize the prices at the USD peg. Traders can easily change their Bitcoins into USDQ and thus prevent the negative impact on unwanted prices changes. Stablecoins are very easy to use, which is a boon for non-techy adopters. Any person from around the world can quickly convert fiats into stablecoins, without any need to think about future price changes and without worrying about potential risks for losing their funds. As a rule, you'll always find various stablecoins on crypto exchanges, enabling traders to quickly move around stables and other cryptos.
As we've spoken above, cross-border payments win most from using the stablecoins. This hybrid species between fiat and crypto will help open up the hidden value in global trade, amounting to trillions of dollars in profits for stakeholders.
USDQ is decentralized stablecoin, which uses algorithms to offer higher stability and reliability. Fully on-chain and monitored by high-speed AI robots, ecosystem offers reliable defences against malicious acts and attacks. First run in line of fiat-pegs, USDQ is brought by PLATINUM ENGINEERING Team, looking to edge together innovative solutions in collateralization, using stabilizing mechanisms and oracles for high-endurance stablecoins. Fully anonymous, USDQ breaks limits out of this legacy world.
PLATINUM ENGINEERING openly shares about its development and vectors for growth, enabling stakeholders to learn about cutting-edge solutions in the blockchains/crypto domain. PLATINUM ENGINEERING has already helped over 150 crypto projects to grow through emerging blockchain economy of the future. Businesses would be amazed at new capabilities they can obtain through tokenizing their business models, automating routine business processes and drawing investors on crypto markets. The team welcomes the community to contact directly via the official groups in Telegram, Facebook or LinkedIn. Readers will learn how to obtain new competitive advantages by tapping into blockchain in their blog.

What many of us don't get about Bitcoin (its biggest strength).

Are you worried about the trolls, the Professor Bitcorn and BitCon types the media books on their shows, while ignoring people like Andreas, Roger, TwoBitIdiot, Circle execs, the Xapo CEO - all of whom would be better representatives of the technology and the currency.
Look, these people are playing their game: they don't want Bitcoin to succeed.
Allow me to repeat that: they do not want Bitcoin to succeed.
For people in the media, especially television, who already have money - they don't want to hear the Bitcoin narrative. They really don't. They're busy and being told their millions are worthless fiat shit bothers them. People don't like change - we couldn't even switch to the metric system in the States. This turns money around, a full 180. Some aren't ready for that.
And the credit card companies, the banks, some governments... Bitcoin is not a thorn in their side. It's an existential threat and, as with Occupy, they're doing their thing to make it go away. How much of the regulatory and legislative shitstorm do you think has been generated by card company lobbyists whispering into the right people's ears? Think about it.
This stuff is not conspiracy thinking. It is economic war. They're threatened, and they are attempting to crush that threat.
I was never in Occupy, I found it pedantic, but a friend was. Recently we were talking and I told her "something like that was doomed from the get go - no clear demands, no clear leaders, no vision".
This led to a very scary conversation about her experiences in Occupy. She's one of the smarter people I know, definitely not a UFO/conspiracy/NWO conspiratard. And she said, point blank, it was her experience that at least 1 out of every 4 "Occupiers" by the end of it was a fed, undercover cop, or provocateur. None of it made sense toward the end - crazies showing up to meetings, advocating violence and property damage. People with no history in activist communities whatsoever popping up with recording equipment, not journalists mind you, and asking questions and taking face shots without permission.
All that scary Cointelpro shit they used against Martin Luther King, Jr and others whose views were a little too ahead of the curve?
Those programs have not ended, they have just been compartmentalized and in many cases privatized. Internet trolling is big business. Social engineering and opinion "shepherding" is also big business.
Why do banks advertise on TV so much? Why do they sponsor so many stadiums?
The Buttcoiners frequently say Bitcoin is a cult. Money IS a cult: flip around a dollar bill, you'll find more occult creepiness than in the last twenty minutes of Eyes Wide Shut.
Money is a psychological phenomena, and Satoshi got the economics right for duplicating that phenomena, without needing a government to kickstart it with all of their imagery, force, and bullshit.
One of the recent favorite lines of Bitcoin detractors is "the blockchain technology is great, but the currency side of it will never work".
This is intentional, one last attempt to undermine Bitcoin in the courts of public opinion.
"The engines on this plane are great, but it will never fly."
Wrong. Currency, value transfer, is the whole fucking point of Bitcoin. Notice how the trolling increased as Changetipping took off? That's because if tipping goes viral, the threat to them increases - it cannot be stopped at that point.
Also, sorry it took me so long to get to the point of this post: Bitcoin's biggest strength IS its currency aspect.
All the rest is nice bells and whistles, but currency is what Bitcoin was designed to replace. As Gates said, "Bitcoin is better than currency." He's not a dumb guy. That's one of those five word quotations that doesn't seem like much today, but in three years will appear positively prophetic in its accuracy. Bitcoin isn't just another currency. It's not just some card network for transferring ledger credit/debit balances around. It's a technology inherently better than govt-issued currency itself, just as email is inherently better than the post.
The logical conclusion, therefore, is that price does matter. Sellers - each of us - decide the price of Bitcoin. Given how much bullshit they are throwing at the wall lately trying to slow us down, I no longer recognize Bitcoin as a $350, $500, or $1,000 per coin technology.
It's become personal. I'll HODL until the bastards are out of business. Because if more of us thought like that, Bitcoin fairy tale time would be here a lot sooner. These banks and institutions are begging to be put out of business. And they know it, or the trolls and media shills wouldn't be out in force.
Time to finish the job. HODL til the bleed. For every shill who says price doesn't matter and Bitcoin will never work as money, I say it is money - more money than your derogatory surveillance and war funding Chuck E Cheese notes, more money than the heavy metal our predecessors used to have to lug around.
And price does matter. The detractors will see that this holiday season. Satoshi built a brilliant Chinese finger trap for money: it won't take much fresh seasonal demand to send all these numbers astronomical.
And I think enough of us are pissed off that we won't sell when things heat up. That's when it gets fun. To quote my favorite Bond villain, "Hello, James. Welcome. Do you like the island? My grandmother had an island. Nothing to boast of. You could walk around it in an hour, but still it was, it was a paradise for us. One summer, we went for a visit and discovered the place had been infested with rats. They'd come on a fishing boat and gorged themselves on coconut. So how do you get rats off an island? Hmm? My grandmother showed me. We buried an oil drum and hinged the lid. Then we wired coconut to the lid as bait and the rats would come for the coconut and... they would fall into the drum. And after a month, you have trapped all the rats, but what do you do then? Throw the drum into the ocean? Burn it? No. You just leave it and they begin to get hungry. And one by one... they start eating each other until there are only two left. The two survivors. And then what? Do you kill them? No. You take them and release them into the trees, but now they don't eat coconut anymore. Now, they only eat rat. You have changed their nature. The two survivors. This is what she made us."
We're going to change their nature. We want it badder than they do, and the future is ours.

I'm officially an Oculus addict - I just set up my second VR room.

Just got done setting up my VR room at home - for the past 8 months my office has been my main VR space. I got a killer deal on a second Rift so I set up my home office with sensors, but shortly after getting my second Rift the video card shortage hit full swing and I just couldn't justify spending that much on a video card.
Well, bitcoin rush has ended and card prices finally dropped so I got me a Asus GTX 1060 6gb on sale for $280 and finished setting up my home VR room. Now I don't have to lug my PC back and forth between office and home, and my son and I can finally play VR on the weekdays...
Just in time for summer.
Anyways, just had to share...
EDIT: Pic of my son sweatin it out to Beat Saber

The Inevitability of Communism

We've all seen it. That upturned corner of the mouth. The sanctimonious half-closed eyes as the Marxist, the Communist, the Leftist all announce with a great degree of pride that Communism is inevitable before allowing for a brief applause.
It is their quiet encouragement to their comrades over meals of Maxwell House coffee and whatever was on sale at a culturally appropriate grocer the previous week. It is their verbal permission slip to avoid addressing unpleasant facts or, more worryingly for the Communist, unpleasant realizations as they never put much stock in fact to begin with. It is the beginning of myriad classroom discussions at numerous purported academies where, six decades prior, earnest scholarship found its home and the answer to questions posed by bespectacled, intentionally unkempt professors, proudly proffered by a female freshman with hair dyed a ghastly color glancing around the room to gauge the approval of her peers. It perpetually occupies the pastebin of any self-respecting Marxist who has the intellectual turpitude to operate a computer built and assembled by many hundreds of evil corporations for the exclusive purpose of attacking Capitalism and, presumably, to update their wordpress resume consisting of short part-time stints at vegan coffee shops and hollow attempts at activism.
Even Communists who make admittedly spirited attempts at intellectual thought utter this repetitive, broken phrase, "Communism/Marxism is inevitable."
They are all unequivocally morons.
First of all, Communism is a prescriptive system. The Communist, fancying himself a doctor of society, examines the patient, declares a before unknown illness, and further declares that Communism is the cure. Regardless of whether or not one believes in the illness or the cure, the cure is not "inevitable" if you are fucking saying "This is the problem, and this is what we have to do about it." When your ideology is a call to action it can't very well be inevitable because that would require A: that people heed your call to action and that B: it is successful. It can inherently succeed or fail because it is an EFFORT. You cannot predict the outcome, therefore it can't be inevitable in the same way that a coin landing on heads cannot be inevitable. "Efforts" and "attempts" at implementing systems are not some inexorable march. They are endeavors with observable and measurable outcomes.
Second, any system that is designed cannot be inevitable because designed systems do not take into consideration future technological advancements. Just as a lug nut designed in the 1900's may not fit a jungle gym designed in the year 2007, an ideology designed in the 1800's may not fit society in, beg your pardon, current year.
The Communist will insist that Communism isn't designed. Given that Communism began as a critique of how society was already structured this is an obvious falsehood and one more nail in the ideological coffin that is the mind of the Communist. The Communist can harp about "Oh, but man in his natural state would do X, Y, and Z."
They have no way of knowing this, first of all, but more importantly even if they are right, Communism has still been designed merely with what they believe is man's "natural state" in mind. Capitalism was a description of what men observed and Communism was a prescription of what a Communist believed men ought to do.
Stupid fucking Communists.
EDIT: Coin flips can be inevitable. LOST_TALE has humiliated me greatly. In accordance with our traditions, I have given him one percent of my bitcoins and he has the right to harvest any apples from my homestead for a year. And also, if anyone ever replies to his arguments with something that is not an argument I am required to be his hype man and reply to their comment saying "Not an argument." for a period of time no less than thirty days.

What the Fork?

What's going on? Why is Bitcoin forking ad infinitum? Soft forks, hard forks, contentious forks, what the fork? Let me try (try) and explain. I won't be getting into the political and ego dynamics, as I intend to speak just about the coin and the market.

History

It all began after the Financial Crisis of 2008. Public trust in banks and central organizations were at an all-time low, and groups were actively trying to introduce better alternatives to central banking. During this tenuous period, Satoshi Nakamoto conceptualized a digital currency that could be transacted without the need of a middleman. This was the first Bitcoin.
People, acting in their own self-interests, were incentivized to maintain a publicly-available database of transactions that would be updated regularly with additional transactions. The idea was revolutionary (as evidenced by Bitcoin's explosive growth).

How does it work?

Of course, everything is grossly simplified, but you get the gist.

The Problem

As it gained traction, Bitcoin began to face a big problem - scalability. And that's the cause of all this divide. I'll explain it using a metaphor introduced by Forbes author, Laura Shin.
Consider blocks to be like suitcases. Each suitcase is packed with transactions, and added onto a... conveyor, if you will. Miners are the people that make these suitcases. Scalability refers to the suitcase not being able to contain all the transaction data in the mempool. So... what do you do?
In order to fix the problem, the blockchain has to undergo what is called a fork. Simply put, a fork means splitting the chain into two cub-chains as of a particular block-number, with one of the sub-chains having modified rules with regards to the type of blocks that are accepted, payout mechanisms, etc.

What will happen?

Now opinions are extremely varied about which chain will come out victorious after the fork. Victory, in this context, is determined by its accumulated difficulty, which is a function of how many miners (hashing power) are working to build the blockchain for that coin.
It's a toss between these alternatives:

How do I make money through this mess?

My strategy is simple. By the end of this week/early next week, I will be diluting my position in Bitcoin in favor of a few select alt-coins, viz:
Once the initial hype has died down, I intend to cash out into USD-T until I get a feel for the market, before reinvesting. I will not be touching Bitcoin or any of its variations until a winner is clear.

Warning

While I am more bullish than not about this fork, I must stress on the degree of uncertainty that is present in the markets right now. There is a small possibility of the market losing confidence, and crashing significantly. Be very cautious, and stay alert so as to sell into USD-T/fiat as soon as things start looking bad.

New Deathstroke respect

Physically;
Mentally;

Make sure to check out this link for more information o Deathstroke's gear: https://www.reddit.com/useTheTrueDeathSkeleton/comments/eeurec/respect_deathstrokes_dc_rebirth_gea?utm_medium=android_app&utm_source=share
