Dogecoin: The Most Stable Cryptocurrency?

Many people don’t care about Dogecoin. What a joke, right? It was started as a joke, after all. The way the people communicate is such a joke – sorry, such joke, very silly.
These things might be true, but here’s something else that’s true: Dogecoin has consistently been in the top ten market capitalizations for cryptocurrencies, and since its initial highs in March last year, it’s been relatively stable in terms of both market capitalization and value.
Coinmarketcap.com Coinmarketcap.com The value we’re referring to could be very low, but with high inflation comes easier access to the coins. Many of its holders are holding millions of the altcoin, either still waiting for the day that it goes back to its former glory or using it in much the same way as Bitcoin.
cryptsy.com cryptsy.com One thing is for sure: the Dogecoin community has managed to pull together and achieve some remarkable feats. They’ve sponsored a few NASCAR races, a school in Cambodia, and even a mini lunar rover race. Compared to Bitcoin, they tend to agree on many things by default.
The spirit of Dogecoin took a hit earlier in the year when creator Jackson Palmer told another outlet that he was tired of white men being over-represented in cryptocurrency circles. In the same interview he essentially denigrated all that is holy in digital cash, by praising the feature of bank accounts and traditional financial instruments that allows one to reverse potentially fraudulent charges.
Regardless, Dogecoin continues its path, having a fraction of a cent in value per XDG. If stability is what people are looking for in cryptocurrency, perhaps it’s time to stop advising them to try Bitcoin, and try Dogecoin instead, because this stability is not created by a lack of trading in any sense – Dogecoin is still one of the top-traded coins on numerous altcoin exchanges.

How can I value/put a price on dogecoin?

Note that after the Jamaican Bobsleigh Team Raised $30,000 in Dogecoins the price tripled.
This shined a light on the fact that the micro payment model really has some legs. Think about how difficult it is to buy something on your phone for 50 cents, it just doesn't happen. If you enable mobile payments that are instantaneous, and free (aka dogecoin) then you open up a whole new world of e-commerce.
Even after tripling dogecoin is still trading at .000002 bitcoins. (Cryptsy - DOGE/BTC Market as of 1/21). I feel like there is real potential for the price to increase many orders of magnitude but before I invest I'm interested in seeing a model of the long term value the tipping currency could have (best way is to figure out the value of something that already exists that it will replace), and then come to a price per coin by taking into account the current number of coins and future inflation.

Warning: Do NOT do business with Cryptsy. They have stolen my Bitcoin and are now ignoring my support requests.

I attempted a withdrawal through Cryptsy a week ago and it's been in a pending state. When I open support tickets they come back with generic canned responses. It's quite obvious they are just keeping the money while bitcoin price is high because they don't have the real funds to back it up.
Now they are ignoring my support requests, but here are some of the canned responses I got at the beginning:
Hello Ben,
Thank you for contacting us about this issue. I apologize for the inconvenience this may have caused you. We are experiencing a delay when it comes to processing BTC LTC and BTCD withdrawal transactions. Our technical team is working hard to get the withdrawals moving as fast as they can. Thank you for your patience as we work to resolve this matter.
Please note that you also have the option to cancel the transaction while waiting for the issue to be resolved. If you wish to do this, kindly respond to this ticket so I can process a cancellation request for you.
Sincerely,
Of course their service page mentions nothing about any outage:
https://www.cryptsy.com/pages/status
Thank you for contacting us again. We apologize for the continued problems we are having with some withdrawals. We appreciate your patience as we continue to work on the problem as we hope to have it resolved soon. Some suggestions that are working for "some" users": a) Verify your account to Tier Level 2 b) Request a cancellation of transaction and try making them in smaller amounts. Again we thank you for your patience as we try to resolve the technical problems we are having.

Cryptsy Co-founder and Josh Garza Co-conspirator is the ideas guy behind Bitcoin Classic

In this chat the lead developer of Bitcoin Classic (Jonathan Toomim) mentions Marshall Long solicited him to develop the client
Here he says he and his developer buddy have Ahmed Bodiwala commit access.
For those that don't know Marshall, he is the pinnacle of crypto-genius who specializes in everything technology. But you don't need to take his word for it, his work speaks for itself.
He is the Co-founder and CTO of Cryptsy and worked to ensure Cryptsy is the most secure and legit exchange on the planet.
He worked directly with the CEO of Mining Asic Technologies to distribute hardware preorders. Unfortunately Mining Asic Technologies went bankrupt before delivering those preorders but that's beside the point.
Then there's Ziftr which he provided marketing for. You might not think that's a big deal but if you take a look at Ziftr you will notice that it's practically a useless cryptocurrency with the sole purpose of using "creative" marketing to convince people to buy into their IPO.
He also provided guidance/developers to his self proclaimed buddy Josh Garza with the development of Paycoin aka the most technologically advanced cryptocurrency ever created in two weeks. Sure, you might say paycoin was just peercoin with a few lines of code changed which introduced several catastrophic, client breaking bugs, but I'd say he did a great job.
In addition, he provided Garza with his escape to Dubai exit strategy. You can read the plan drafted by Marshalls buddy Leo here. The fact that Garza fled to Dubai and has yet to be caught is just another testament to his skills in global economics.
Overall I'm pretty impressed. Will probably be investing the last of my savings into Bits-coin knowing that this guy will play a major role in development of the client supported by 90% of the bits-coin economy.

[PSA] Cryptsy is not allowing bitcoin withdrawal.

Thought the community would like to know that the exchange Cryptsy has not allowed me to withdraw my coins for over two weeks now. First request to withdraw coins was made on the 5th of November, 2015. After a week or so the support staff cancelled the withdrawal request. Re-requested withdrawal and still no coins. On their website it states 'pending'. I can not recommend anyone using Cryptsy for any trading and if you have any coins stored with them, I would recommend requesting the withdrawal of them immediately.

Cryptsy stole all my bitcoin

I mean it wasn't much. Like maybe .16 a bitcoin but still. I was bamboozled,. Hoodwinked. Jipped. They're refusing to return my emails, none of my help tickets are being looked at. I feel like I was scammed hard. I tried to withdraw my bit to a different wallet on 3 separate occasions, about .05 each withdrawal, and they're all just stuck on pending. I even have a withdrawal from as late as the 21st of December that hasn't cleared yet.
DO NOT USE CRYPTSY.
Edit: I would like to publicly thank huntingisland. He generously gave me 17.80 in bitcoin today. This person is a true hero.

Did anyone else have problems retrieving their bitcoin from Cryptsy? Are you mad? I am!

Given that bitcoin has now went up in price, I am pretty irate about not being able to retrieve mine that were with cryptsy. The first time I tried to withdraw them was in November, they did not allow me to transfer any amount, little or big. I am still so mad about it especially now! How do you feel about it? Did you have any in their vault?

Now that cryptsy is gone what is the next economically important bitcoin businesses to watch out for in 2016?

With so much going on right now it's impossible to say what effect cryptsy has had on the price. But historically companies closing (or exit scamming) has had a large effect on the price swings of bitcoin.
So what do people think the businesses to look out for in 2016 and what impact would they have? Here is some of my ideas
BTC-e I don't think users have a lot of issues with it the way they do with crypsty or mtgox before they fell but the fact it runs it's business semi-illegally from an unknown location by unknown people makes it seem extremely ripe for an exit scam.
Bitpay I can't see them doing an exit scam but this company is a walking corpse that seems to barely exist anymore and when it shuts down it could take a majority of legitimate bitcoin business offline simultaneously and will be a MAJOR news story.
Chinese Exchanges They all seem to be in the business of super openly facilitating money laundering and flaunting capital controls and I don't think "china bans bitcoin" is very likely but I can see any major chinese exchange getting it's office raided and it's servers taken since they are so blatant about helping people break laws. Depending which exchange this could be mtgox level.
Gemini: A business that is making at most tens of dollars a day, far too legitimate for an exit scam, not economically important, but would make some news headlines. Probably will close, probably won't matter.
Changetip seems to do less and less business, wouldn't be profitable even if they took 100% of the tips they seem to process as their own, but probably won't close down entirely until well past the point no one cares. Seems in constant danger of leaving the market but won't matter.
Comedy answer: /bitcoin I can see theymos having a tantrum and making his forum private if he doesn't get his way and bitcoin classic takes off. I think losing bitcoin would initially have a terrible panic effect that would sharply drop the price but would long term probably help the price overall.
Any other thoughts?
